- Title: Present and Future Promises of CALL: From Theory and Research to New Directions in Language Teaching
- Publisher: CALICO Monograph Series, Volume 5, 2nd Edition
- Editors: Nike Arnold and Lara Ducate
This book provides an excellent collection of updated CALL theory and research. First two chapters, chapter 1 and 2 offer a good and comprehensive summary of CALL research and practice, esp. historically recognized CALL practices and some commonly accepted CALL perspective such interactionist CALL, Cognitive, and Social Cultural CALL that briefly highlight topics and specific area for each. The chapters must be good readings for CALL introduction course. Another great value of this book for me was extended and upgraded information of web 2.0 called 'post Web 2.0' in this book and social network that were indepth discussed in volume 3. Reinhardt & Thorn's Digital L2 literacies and Hubbard's courseware evaluation chapters have some addition to the previous position.
